Two arrested for allegedly selling drugs at hotel

Picayune Police Department narcotics detectives arrested two men after receiving complaints regarding suspected illegal narcotic activity occurring at a local motel.

According to a departmental press release, detectives arrived at the location at 2:28 p.m. on Dec. 4, and spoke with 36-year-old Andrew Paul Mielke of 999 Cooper Road Apt # 224 and 40-year-old Pete William Stanfield of 32 Liberty Road.

During a search of Stanfield, detectives located a white powder- like substance believed to be heroin on his person, the release states. Detectives later found a backpack in Stanfield’s possession containing digital scales with a residue believed to be from crystal methamphetamine, white powdery substance believed to be heroin, 50 syringes, a bowie knife and a container with a residue believed to be methamphetamine, the release states.

Investigative techniques showed that Mielke and Stanfield allegedly planned to sell the controlled substance to an unidentified person, according to the release.

Mielke was arrested for transfer of controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a church, conspiracy to transfer a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a church, and conspiracy to sell a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a church. Stanfield was arrested for conspiracy to sell a controlled substance within 1,500 ft. of a church, possession of controlled substance with intent to sell within 1,500 ft. of a church, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of paraphernalia.
