The Senior Center of South Pearl River County is hosting its annual Matching Funds Campaign in an effort to fund activities and operation costs at the facility.

All donations provided to the senior center from now until Jan. 31, 2018, will be matched by St. Michael’s Foundation, Senior Center of South Pearl River County Executive Director David Sykes said.

St. Michael’s Foundation will match up to $10,000 of donations made during that period, Sykes said.

“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and the donations we receive help pay for many of the programs that our seniors get to enjoy” Sykes said.

The donations received by the senior center also help pay for electricity, water, food, cleaning supplies and other items that are needed at the senior center in order to operate on a daily basis.

Sykes said donations to the center could be made through mail or via PayPal.

The Senior Center of South Pearl River County is located at 45 El Patch Parkway, Picayune, MS 39466. To donate through PayPal, visit the senior center’s Facebook page and click on the “Donate” button located on the top of the page.

Upcoming events at the center include its annual Christmas dance Friday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m.

Individual tickets can be purchased for $15 while tickets for couples are $25. David and the Rockyn Rhythms, a local band, will provide the entertainment and drinks and snacks will also be provided, Sykes said.

“I want to thank the community for the support they provide to the senior center throughout the year,” Sykes said. “The center provides senior citizens around Pearl River County with a place where they can hang out, enjoy fun activities and stay connected with other seniors. The senior center is an important place in our community.”
