Kiln man dies in single vehicle accident

A 39-year-old man from Kiln, Mississippi was killed in a one vehicle crash on Highway 603 in Hancock County on Dec.12 that occurred at 7:50 p.m.

According to a statement issued by Chase Elkins of the Mississippi Highway Patrol, troopers arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, which revealed that the as yet unidentified deceased lost control of his 2006 Honda. After losing control of the vehicle, it left the roadway and struck a tree head-on, according to the statement.

Initial reports from the troopers determined the driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident and he was ejected.  The driver’s cause of death is unofficially being due to injuries sustained from being ejected.

Elkins said troopers are still working to verify the identity.

Once that investigation is complete and next of kin have been notified, his name will be released.

No other vehicles were involved and there were no passengers in the vehicle, according to the statement.
