An accident between a vehicle and an Amtrak train occurred Friday morning near the intersection of Jackson Landing Road and Highway 11.

Officers were dispatched to the railroad crossing at that location at about 8:31 a.m. concerning a possible vehicle accident, Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Captain Joe Quave said.

Dumot Triggs, the driver of the vehicle, a 2007 Nissan Altima, was traveling east on Jackson Landing Road, while the train was going north. The accident took place after Triggs failed to stop at a railroad crossing and attempted to cross between the barricades, Quave said.

The accident is under investigation but no injuries or train derailments occurred. Triggs was arrested for driving without a driver’s license, no insurance, switched tag, failing to stop at a railroad crossing and possession of a controlled substance, Quave said.
