Picayune’s Civic Women’s Club is preparing for its annual Christmas parade with this year’s theme being “Two Hundred Years of Christmas,” celebrating the 200th anniversary of Mississippi’s statehood.

This year’s parade will take place on Dec.4, at 6 p.m. The club is now accepting applications for floats, decorated vehicles, marching groups and horses.

The parade will take its traditional route, starting at the corner of Kirkwood Street and Goodyear Boulevard, continuing onto Highway 11, turning down Main Street and then West Canal before ending at Goodyear Boulevard.

“We hope that participants will have fun depicting some of the things we all love about Mississippi, a particular decade, or even a specific historic event in Mississippi’s history,” said Leslie Lincoln, parade chairman in a release from the organization.

Entry forms can be downloaded from the Civic Women’s Club of Picayune Facebook page, requested via email at picayunecwc@yahoo.com and will also be available at the Greater Picayune Area Chamber of Commerce office on Highway 11.

The last day to register for the parade is November 26, or until all spots have been filled.
