Millbrook Golf and Country Club in Picayune will host its first holiday three-person scramble.
The event will take place Saturday, Dec. 2 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
“A scramble in golf means that all three members of a team will hit off the tee and out of the three shots they will play off the best one in their next hit and will do so until one of the players hits the ball into the hole,” event organizer Patrick Collins said.
The entry fee is $200 and will include food, drinks, cart and range balls.
Prizes will be given to the top three teams in each flight and individual prizes will include longest drive, closest to the hole and straightest drive.
A ring the drum and break the glass contest will also take place. Anyone who usually hits over 70 strokes will play in the red tee course and anyone with an average of over 60 will participate in the gold tee course.
The holiday scramble will partner with Toys for Tots in an effort to provide toys to disadvantaged children this Christmas.
To assist with that effort, when participants hit a bad shot and want a do-over they will have two opportunities to purchase a mulligan. The first time they want a mulligan to replay that shot, they will have to donate a toy to Toys for Tots. A second mulligan will require a $5 fee, Collins said.
The club is also seeking business sponsorships for the tournament. Sponsorship opportunities include a tee sign for $100, a tee sign and team sign up for $275 and an exclusive tee sign and team sign up for $400.
“We decided to put this event together for everyone who wants to come out and play some golf,” Collins said. “It’ll be a great event for everyone and it’s a great way to help kids receive a Christmas present this holiday season. I’m looking forward to everyone having a good time.”
