Highland Community Hospital is hosting an open house November 18, and all community members are invited in order to thank them for their support of the hospital’s endeavors.
The event starts at 10 a.m., and will feature free health care screenings, health information kiosks, opportunities to meet several healthcare providers, activities for families and an opportunity for children to decorate pumpkins.
“It’s an event to thank the community for what they do for us as a hospital,” said Bryan Maxie, Regional Administrator. “Our goal is to thank them for utilizing our facility.”
Later that afternoon two hours of entertainment will include singing performances by local groups and individuals along with live music by bands such as the Answered Prayer and Rock the Flock.
The event will take place in the hospital’s main lobby and will include free screening for blood pressure, bone density, O2 saturation, BMI and skin care.
Healthcare providers attending the event will be from Highland’s rural health clinics, the Hattiesburg Clinic and Southern Bone and Joint among many others. Healthcare professionals will address concerns related to prescription drugs and opioid abuse, tips for coping with depression during the holidays and share tips about respiratory care and smoking cessation.
Attendees will also have a chance to meet the community’s first responders, have their child’s car seats checked and their child’s fingerprints taken.
The community can also learn about ways to volunteer at the hospital, the facility’s support initiatives for breast cancer, organ donation and others.
