Six arrested after warrant served

A community complaint about alleged drug activity led to the arrest of several people.

According to a press release from the Picayune Police Department, detectives served a search warrant at 1543 North Beech St., on Oct. 17, at which time they found six people in the master bedroom. They were identified as 34-year-old Lisa Marie Lowery of 165 Frierson Rd., 61-year-old Leonard Earl Martin of 29 Oak Point Rd., 36-year-old Tony Curtis Herring of 117 Marilyn St., 39-year-old Shannon Eric Mitchell of 1800 Adcox Rd., 47-year-old Melissa Kay-Bennett Baker of 57 Rouse Rd., and Rebecca Jane Garreston of 458 Ozona Rd., the release states.

The warrant was secured due to complaints methamphetamine was being sold out of the home, the release states.

In the search, detectives found a handgun, set of brass knuckles, several bags of a substance suspected to be methamphetamine, several digital scales with a residue suspected to be from methamphetamine, a box of sandwich bags, a canister containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, a bag of blue pills identified as clozapam and several items of paraphernalia commonly used to inject, package, manufacture and inhale narcotics. Also located in the home was sudafed, butane and lighter fluid, all of which are commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine. the release states.

Lowery was arrested for sale of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm, conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, possession of precursor chemicals, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, two counts of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia, the release states.

Mitchell, Baker, Garreston, Martin and Herring were arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm, possession of precursor chemicals, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, two counts of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia, the release states.
