Valiree Jones Fleming

Funeral services will be held  Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Salem Landmark Missionary Baptist Church for Ms. Valiree Jones Fleming, age 97.   Elder Gary Sumrall will officiate, assisted by Elder Terry Robertson.  Musical service will be provided by Salem Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.  Serving as pall bearers will be Michael Creel, Carl Beech, Chad McDonald, Scott Fleming, Michael Blair, Eric Stephens, Billy Beach, Bradley Cuevas, and Tyler Spano.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at McDonald Funeral Home in Picayune, Mississippi.

Valiree Jones Fleming was born August 6, 1920 in Hancock County to Newton and Amanda Jones.  She passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was a member of Salem Landmark Missionary Baptist Church and lived in the Salem Community.  She was united in marriage to J.T. Fleming on May 19, 1939.  Ms. Fleming was a home maker and for 75 years, she was married and devoted to the same man serving and loving him with all her heart and soul.  She spent her life devoted to serving God and her family.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. T. Fleming, daughter Melba Beech, parents, Newton and Amanda Jones, step mother, Leona Jones, brothers, Lamar Jones, Preston Jones, and sister, Harvis Gieger.

She is survived by three sons, Steve Fleming and wife Annette of Salem; Troy Fleming and wife Beverly of Picayune; Monte Fleming and wife Patsy of Salem; two daughters, Jeanette Creel and husband Harold of Salem; Linda Cooksey and husband Barkley of Decatur, MS; and step sister Margery Ruth Ladner; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and six great, great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Southern Care Hospice, Brenda Hoffman RN and Ms. Fleming’s caregivers Cindy Hernandez and Vicky Smith for their love and support of this family.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Elder Gary Sumrall.
