13 Wildcats earn NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards

POPLARVILLE — The NJCAA has recognized 13 student-athletes from Pearl River Community College as Academic Student-Athlete Award winners for the 2016-17 school year.
Five players from the PRCC women’s soccer team were honored, four from baseball, three from softball and one from men’s soccer.
“One thing we’re extremely proud of is the success of our student-athletes in the classroom,” said PRCC athletic director Jeff Long. “This is something we’ve really focused on the last year or two, and that’s being students first.”
Selected as an NJCAA All-Academic First Team, for student-athletes with a 4.0 grade-point average, was baseball freshman Gage Clark.
NJCAA All-Academic Second Team players (3.80-3.99 GPA) were freshmen Kayla Nobles and Sarah Walden from women’s soccer, sophomore baseball player Noah Nicaud, softball sophomore Madison Scoggin and men’s soccer sophomore Tyler Polderman.
Chosen for NJCAA All-Academic Third Team honors (3.60-3.79 GPA) were freshmen Abby Henderson, Mia Richardson and Rylee Foster from women’s soccer; freshman Ilyssa Easton and sophomore Kristen Martin from softball; and baseball sophomores Parker Dungan and Parker Thoms.
