Funeral Services for Walter Lavon Penton, age 96, of White Chapel Community, Miss., who passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017, will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Friday, June 30, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Rev Cedric Lumpkin will officiate the service, assisted by Rev. Bud Putnam.
A native of McNeill, he was a WWII Veteran, and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Walter was a prior owner of Penton Well Service, Nicholson, and attended Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Dennis Penton and Velzora Lee Penton; his first wife, Leagon Penton; his daughter, Patricia Penton; his son, Denny Wayne Penton; his sisters, Eula Mae Foust and Versie Poupart; and his brothers, Mason Penton and Donald Penton.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cherayl Arnold Penton; his children, Reggie (Sandra) Penton, Regan (Linda) Penton, Renita Lankford, Tommy Johnson, Robin (Donnie) Mitchell, and Susan Perry; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
