Special to the Item
I am humbled to announce my candidacy for State Representative District 108 in the July 25th special election. My name is Jerry W. Frazier and I have been a resident of Carriere, for the past 25 years. I am married to Coranell (Nixon) Frazier who is a life long resident of the area. I have 3 daughters and one son-in-law. God has also blessed me with 2 grand children and 3 godchildren whom I adore. The same things that are important to you are important to me. I’ve served as a Deacon at New Hebron B.C. for the past 11 years. I function as the assistant Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher And Church Financial Clerk. Service is a part of my life. My wife and daughter are educators and I understand the needs for good school systems. I am a member of the American Association of Blacks in Energy, Board of Certified Safety Professionals (2013-2017), Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, HOG and a registered gun owner.
I am a 1981 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe formally known as Northeast Louisiana University. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Residential and Commercial Construction. I have worked the last 36.5 years for Chevron USA where my last position was Health Environment and Safety Advisor for Drilling Operations. Prior to that I was the Health Environment and Safety Supervisor for Logistic Operations. I had the pleasure of working for a company that ‘s number 3 on the Fortune 500 list and at the same time supporting local facilities right here at home and along the Gulf Coast. I also held a Certified Safety Professional certification (the highest safety designation possible) from 2013 until my retirement in 2017.
During my time with Chevron, core values such as sound business decision-making, community involvement, diversity and inclusion, and building coalitions with all business partners both large and small were cultivated. Over the course of my 36 plus years, I moved from a roustabout position and worked my way up to a safety professional. I have demonstrated my ability to commit and willingness to do what ever it takes to achieve desired results.
My time in the private sector has honed my leadership skills and positioned me to take advantage of the skill sets of all who govern. I will work tirelessly to build coalitions necessary to promote growth right here at home. I promise to provide honest leadership taking into consideration the needs of the many and not just select special interests. I believe in limited government involvement in our private lives. The special election will be held July 25th and I would be honored to serve as your representative and humbly ask for your support.
Jerry W. Frazier
Candidate for Mississippi State Representative / District 108.
