Funeral services for Robert “Mose Burton, 71, of Picayune, Miss., who passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017 will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church. Pastor Henry S. Marshall will officiate at the service.
Robert Burton was born April 9, 1945 to the late Mose and Lola Burton in Picayune, Miss. He was an only child. He received his formal education at George Washington Carver High School where he was a graduate of the Class of 1965. He was a member of the Carver High Pirates Football Team. He was a US Army Vietnam veteran.
Robert “Mose” Burton united in holy matrimony to Andrea Brown-Burton on March 12, 2000, and this union enhanced his life with two beautiful daughters; Ashley (Mario) Huderson of Fairburn, Ga. and April Bester of Addison, Texas; and two grandsons, Amari and Ahmad Huderson.
He was a member of Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church where he was an active member of the male chorus and drama team until his health failed. He retired from Brockway Standard. He was a member of the American Legion Post 244, the Mason Lodge, and president of the All Occasion Trucker’s Club.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 17 years, Andrea Brown-Burton; five children, Patricia Arrington, of Baton Rouge, La., Keith D. (Yvette) Burton, Kenogh D. Burton, Cynthia Rice, Ashley Ratcliff, all of Picayune, Miss.; fifteen grandchildren, Chazz, Sikia, Paris, Alicia, Da’Keith, Malik, Kiara, KeAundrea, Keori, Kashawn, ZyKeria, Kaitlynn, Jasmine, Janyia, and Kelcie; a special niece, Vanessa of Pascagoula, Miss.; four great-grandchildren, OSheas, Kaidyn, Alyssa, and Karter; one very special cousin, Dr. Peggy Answorth, Ed.D. of Hattiesburg, Miss.; four step-brothers, Elder Donald (Diane) Berry, Jessie Ray (Mae Frances) Berry, James Stephon Tatum, and Terry Lee Tatum; two step-sisters, Lisa Jo Tatum and Claudette Tatum-McDonald; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Brown’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to service.  Interment will be in Picayune Cemetery with Military Honors.  Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
