Funeral services for Maggie Ruth Tyson, 70, of Picayune, will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Pastor Louis Thomas will officiate at the service.
Maggie Ruth Gover Tyson was born December 20, 1946 to the late Claudia M. Sanders and William L. Gover, Sr. in Pell City, Ala. She was educated at St. Claire Training Center in Pell City, Ala.
She joined First Baptist Church in Pell City at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. Poole.  She was united in holy matrimony on November 6, 1963 to the late Herbert Warren Tyson, and to their union, three children were born.  Shortly after marriage, they relocated to Picayune, Miss., where she remained for the rest of her life. “Ruth” as she was lovingly referred previously united with Little Zion Travellers Baptist Church in McNeill, Miss. More recently, she attended Bethlehem Baptist Church where Rev. Louis Thomas is Pastor.  She was a homemaker.
Ruth Tyson ended her earthly walk to begin her heavenly existence on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Forest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert Tyson; one son, Kelvin Tyson; and one grandson, Larry Tyson.
She leaves to cherish loving memories one devoted son, Barry U. Tyson, of Picayune, Miss.; one daughter, Barbara Marie Anderson, of Jackson, Miss.;  three sisters, Mary Sanders, Cathy Oden, and Sharon Sanders, all of Pell City, Ala.; two brothers, Wayne Crowe, and Turnett Sanders, both of Pell City, Ala.; four grandchildren, Sabrina, Jeremy, Kelvin, and Destiny; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to service.  Interment will be in Picayune Cemetery.  Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
