Funeral services for Charlie Henderson, Jr., 84, who passed away on January 4, 2017, will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Greater Emmanuel Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Alex Wesco, Jr. will officiate at the service.
Charlie Henderson, Jr. was born on January 1, 1933 in New Orleans, LA to the late Charlie Henderson, Sr. and Lucille Grover Henderson.  He was reared in Natchez, MS by his aunt Ethel, where he received his formal education.
Charlie was previously employed as a concrete finisher.  He was a very funny person who loved to tell tales of old times. He lived in the Gulfport/Biloxi area for many years, then he moved to Picayune, MS where he lived until his death. Charlie joined Revealed Holiness Church under the leadership of Elder Cliff Satcher.
While working at Pre-Stress Cement Company, Charlie met Lucy Nell Preston in October 1992. They were fond of each other and developed a bond. He later moved to Picayune and adopted his “new family.” He was loved by his new family and became fondly known as “PaPa” or “Piggy.” He loved to tell jokes that only he could laugh at. Lucy later became his caregiver as his health started to decline.
On Wednesday, January 4, 2017, Charlie answered the Master’s call. He ended
this earthly walk to begin his heavenly journey.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Henderson, Sr. and Lucille Henderson; one sister, Ethel Mae Thomas; one brother, Walter Grover; and one adopted son, Malik Carraway.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Steven Law, of Gulfport, MS; one brother, Leroy (Shirley) Henderson, of Natchez, MS; one sister-in-law, Juanita Grover, of Chicago, Ill; his adopted family (which includes his caregiver for several years), Lucy Nell Preston, of Picayune, MS; his adopted children, Juanita (Thomas) Stuckey, Lynette Washington, Daniel Washington, Jeffery Ferguson, Gennella Washington, Grace (Eddie) Bounds, Charles “Man” Washington, Tynesha Smalls, and DeMarcus Carraway, all of Picayune, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Picayune Cemetery. Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
