Upcoming Christmas events in Poplarville

Poplarville First United Methodist Church will host a Polar Express Parent’s Night Out fundraiser on Dec. 10 from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

Children in fifth grade and below are invited to attend dressed in their holiday pajamas for treats and hot chocolate to watch the Christmas movie, Polar Express.

Pictures with Santa Claus will also be available, states a press release from the church.

Heather Duckett, youth director at Poplarville First United Methodist Church, said funds raised from the event will go toward summer youth trips in Alabama.

The groups will be conduct community service projects in Lineville, Ala., Duckett said.

Tickets are $15 for the first child, plus $10 for each additional sibling. To purchase tickets, call the church at 601-795-4519.

The Poplarville Dixon Theater, home of the Poplarville Academy of Performing Arts will be hosting a pancake breakfast with Santa Claus Dec. 10 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Professional photographs with Santa, crafts and entertainment will be for sale, states a press release from the event.

Children 2-years-old and under can come for free. Tickets for children 3 to 10-years-old are $5 and tickets for those 11-years-old and older are $8.

Pictures with Santa, 4×6 size, are $5 for four people, and $1 for each additional person, the release states. Face painting will also be available for $5.

All proceeds will go to PAPA for future performances, including their upcoming show “Momologues: the Original Comedy about Motherhood.”
