A small donation from a local hardware store is spreading Christmas joy to a family in need.

When Courtney and Cody Barnes found out their neighbor couldn’t afford a Christmas tree, they decided to see what could be done.

“My heart was really broken, I couldn’t stop thinking about this family that didn’t have a tree,” Courtney Barnes said.

So, she called the Home Depot in Picayune and Will Berry, a manager at the store, said he would be happy to help.

Berry donated a tree and stand on behalf of the store for the family in need.

“It’s just the right thing to do,” Berry said. “It’s the week of Christmas and everyone needs a tree.”

Courtney Barnes said they picked the tree up Monday night and delivered it to her neighbor’s home, a single mother of four.

She said it was the first time the children had a Christmas tree of their own.
