Funeral service will be held Monday, December 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in SoSo, Miss. for Mrs. Dorothy Martin, age 83, of Slidell, La., who died Saturday, December 3, 2016 in New Orleans, La.
She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and a Homemaker.
She is survived by 8 daughters, Betty (Andrew) Peavy, Alene (Larry) Thompson, Veronica (Samuel) Hartley all of Slidell, La., Rita (Willie) Harvey, New Orleans, La., Charlene Martin Nixon, Anneise (Clifton) Martin Myers, both of Picayune, Miss., Sandra (Gaither) Martin Jackson, Pittsburg, Calif., and Denise (Samuel) Martin Jackson, Dubai, North Carolina; 1 daughter-in-law, Clarinda Martin; 1 son-in-law, Willie McGowan; 40 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by husband, George Martin Sr.; 1 son, George Martin Jr.; 1 daughter, Jettie McGowan; 14 siblings; parents, Alexander Evans and Melvina Robinson Evans; 1 son-in-law, Melvin Nixon; 1 grandchild; 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Monday, December 12, 2016 in Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, SoSo, Miss. under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
