Thanksgiving holiday closings around the Pearl River County area

During the Thanksgiving holiday, businesses and local government offices will be closed throughout Pearl River County.

Director of Special Projects for the city of Picayune Christy Goss said all city administration offices in Picayune will be closed on Thursday and Friday along with the Public Works Department. Garbage pick-up will be delayed by one day for all residents.

Residents who normally have their garbage collected on Thursday will have it picked up on Friday. Friday’s pick-up will be moved to Saturday. City administration buildings will reopen on Monday at the normal hours.

Pearl River County Board Secretary Cindy Lee said county offices will also be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Poplarville city offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, and the public works department will only respond to emergencies during that time. Garbage pick-up has not changed for Thanksgiving in Poplarville, the City Clerk said.

Last-second Thanksgiving meal items can be purchased at Winn-Dixie and Claiborne Hill; both will open at 7 a.m. However, Winn-Dixie will close at 4 p.m. while Claiborne Hill will remain open until 10 p.m.

City Rexall Drugs and Picayune Drug Co. will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but will resume normal hours on Friday. Fred’s Westside Pharmacy will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day and are closing at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Normal hours will resume on Friday.

Rite Aid’s store hours are going to be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while its pharmacy will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Both Walgreens locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. but the pharmacy will be closed all day on Thanksgiving. CVS will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., while the pharmacy will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
