Roland “Elvis” Joseph Laborde passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the age of 52. His final days were spent surrounded by his backup singers, dancers, fans and groupies. He was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Edith Bordelon Laborde. Brother of Jan Urbani.  Uncle of David Hupp and Jason Hupp.  First cousin of Karen “1st momma” Deffes (the late Raymond), Tina “sister-in-law” McCarthy (Andre), Helen Maddie and the late Clayton McDaniel (Diana). “Brother” of Christy Moritz and Stacy Livengood. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many other relatives and dear friends, especially Jill “2nd momma” Smith.
Roland was born in New Orleans, La. and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Pearl River County, Mississippi. He loved performing as Elvis, bowling and participating in the Special Olympics. Roland never met a stranger. He was well loved and affectionately known for his good nature, generous heart and famous dance moves.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, La. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m.  He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
