The Picayune Fire Department responded to a house fire at the 100 block of Williamsburg Road early Tuesday morning.

When crews arrived on scene around 1:30 a.m. the home was fully involved, Chief Deputy Barry Lee said.

The family was not home when the fire began, but the house was declared a total loss, Lee said.

Crews spent about four to five hours on scene fighting the flames coming off the 3,000 to 4,000-square-foot home, Lee said.

No injuries were sustained and no other damage occurred outside the home, he said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but arson is not suspected, Lee said.
