Male residents in Poplarville are letting their facial hair grow again this November for the annual Poplarville ‘No-Shave November’ fundraiser.
Since 2012, the group has raised $10,958 for over 200 local children in need, according to a press release for the event.
For those who can’t grow a beard, there are other ways to participate in the fundraiser.
No Shave November is an annual event where local men don’t shave during the month to raise awareness and funds for local children who are less fortunate by providing gifts to help them have wonderful Christmas, Mary McKay, an organizer for the event, said in an emailed statement.
The group is asking for sponsors for those growing out their facial hair, monetary donations and new, unwrapped toy donations.
Funds collected throughout the month directly benefit local children in need this Christmas.
The group is working in conjunction with First Baptist Church in Poplarville. Donations and checks can be made out to the church. They are also partnering with Pearl River Community College Toy Drive and Brother’s Keeper Ministries.
“Our goal is to help provide children in our community with a wonderful Christmas,” the release states. “Not only with toys, but with other necessities such as warm jackets, shoes and clothing.”
