Matthew Libonate, 78, of Pensacola, Florida, died Monday, November 7, 2016.
Matt was born to the late Michael and Hilda Libonate, Sr. on January 8, 1938 in Hazelton, PA. He grew up in Baltimore, MD, and after graduating from high school served on active duty as a hospital corpsman in the United States Navy until 1958. He married Ordelle Lowe in 1961 while both worked as radiation technicians at Johns Hopkins Hospital.  He then enjoyed a lifelong career in sales, including operating his own business. Matt and Ordelle were long-time residents of Picayune, MS before relocating to Pensacola in 1994.
A devoted husband and father, Matt was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ordelle. He is survived by their three children: Danielle Urbina and her husband Daniel of Palatine, IL; Mark Libonate and his wife Marivic of Virginia Beach, VA; and Paul Libonate of Pensacola and five grandchildren: Alejandra, Matthew, Gianfranco, Isabella and Sophia. He was preceded in death by his brother Anthony Libonate and is survived by his brothers Michael Jr., Daniel and Lewis Libonate.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 10650 Gulf Beach Hwy, with a reception to follow at Grand Lagoon Yacht Club.
