The Picayune Police Department is looking for a suspect believed to be involved in the burglary of a classroom.
On Oct. 18, several teachers at Picayune Memorial High School walked into their classrooms to see someone had rummaged through belongings, Picayune Police Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said.
At 2:30 a.m. that day, surveillance cameras recorded images of a male suspect walking through the school’s halls with a backpack. He was last seen on the campus by surveillance cameras at 4:09 a.m.
Magri said several items were taken out of one classroom including a Canon camera valued at $450, several action figures given as gifts to the teacher valued at $40 and a PowerPoint remote valued at $40.
Detectives dispatched to the scene reviewed the surveillance footage and identified the suspect as Matthew Kihlken, 18, of 54 Windy Acres Road in Picayune, Magri said.
Detectives secured warrants for the suspect for one count of commercial burglary.
If anyone knows the whereabouts of Kihlken, they are asked to contact the Picayune Police Department at (601) 798-7411 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at (601)-799-CLUE (2583).
