Saturday, the Pearl River Central High School parking lot will be filled with local families dressed in Halloween costumes trick-or-treating between classic cars, trucks, motorcycles and a couple of custom 18-wheelers as the PRC Blue Brigade Marching Band hosts its 3rd annual Antique Car Show and Trunk-or-Treat event.
The family event also offers many activities, including free face painting, food and drinks, a raffle, silent auction, door prizes, cakewalk and free games for the kids.
“We are really excited to be able to host this event again,” PRC Blue Brigade President Lynn Murray said.
The Blue Brigade is looking forward to holding the event because last year’s car show was hindered due to bad weather.
“This year it looks like we are going to have perfect weather for the event. It is going to be awesome to see all these unique cars come from all over the state to compete for prizes and support the Blue Brigade,” Murray said.
The number of registered cars in the show nearly doubled between event’s first and second years, and Murray hopes that that trend continues this year.
The car show categories include best in show, best paint job and best antique car, truck, motorcycle, classic antique car, 18-wheeler and muscle car. Each category—besides best in show and best paint job—will have first, second and third place winners.
Registration for the car show will begin around 9 a.m. on Saturday. The entry fee for the first car is $25 and $15 for each additional car. Awards will be issued at about 2 p.m. that day.
“This is such a fun way to help support the marching band,” Murray said. “The cars that come to this show are amazing and the owners are remarkable people. We hope everyone comes to have a good time and kick off the holiday season with a fun event.”
During the event, the Blue Brigade will hold a raffle for prizes, such as a 32-inch flat screen TV, Murray said.
All proceeds will help the PRC Blue Brigade Marching Band, which includes the color guard and dance team, purchase new uniforms and instruments.
The Halloween-themed antique car show will be held from about 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the PRCHS parking lot located at 7407 Highway 11 in Carriere.
