A Poplarville football coach was arrested at a Purvis High School football game on Sept. 23.
Troy Davis, 47, varsity linebacker coach for Poplarville High School was arrested for public intoxication, said Lamar County School District Police Chief Steve Rosser.
Adam Smith, 32, of Poplarville, who was with Davis at the time of the incident, was also arrested for public intoxication, Rosser said.
Officers smelled alcohol on the men who were present on campus during the football game, Rosser said.
Rosser said he was not aware of any disturbance leading up to the arrest.
Poplarville High School Head Football Coach Jay Beech had no comment about the arrest of one of his staff.
Davis and Smith will appear before Lamar County Justice Court on October 11 at 9 a.m., according to court records.
