Services for Myra Stewart Bridges, 75, of Picayune, who passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthews Baptist Church. Pastor Dr. Michael Kelley will officiate at the service.
Myra was born on August 23, 1941 in McComb, MS to the Pierce Stewart and Virginia Blunt Stewart. She graduated from G.W. Carver High School and later attended Mississippi Valley State, in Itta Bena, MS, where she received her degree in Nursing. Myra was previously employed for over 34 years with Crosby Memorial Hospital, where she worked until her retirement. She was a member of St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Michael Kelley.
At St. Matthews, Myra was a member of the Mission where she served as secretary, and a Sunday School teacher. Her hobbies included reading (especially the Bible) and attending church service. She loved her pastor dearly.
Myra was united in holy matrimony to the late Wilbert Bridges.
Myra ended her earthly walk to begin her heavenly existence on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Select Hospital in Gulfport, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents; Pierce Stewart and Virginia Blunt Stewart; one brother, Wilmer Stewart; and two sisters, Inez Trotter, and Clara Mae McDowell.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: one beloved sister, Mary E. Simmons, one godson, Roderick Stewart, of Hattiesburg, MS; her caretaker, Bobbie Sue Keys, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Picayune Cemetery. Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
