Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in East Jerusalem Baptist Church for Mrs. Julia Mae DeJurnett, 80, of Los Angeles, CA who died October 3, 2016 in Los Angeles, CA. The Rev. Robert Lando will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the Picayune Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
A native of Picayune, she was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Apostolic Faith, Los Angeles, CA.
Mrs. Julia is preceded in death by her parents, Elvia and Estella Cousian; husband, Hugh R. DeJurnett; and brother, Melvin Cousian.
Survivors include 2 sons, Charles R. (Alice) DeJurnett, San Diego, CA, and Sandy L. (LaVerne) DeJurnett, Atlanta, GA; 4 sisters-in-law, Marhy (Walton) Wheaves, Bay St. Louis, MS, Barbara Wheats, Waveland, MS; Molly DeJurnett, Carson, CA and Dolores DeJurnett, Nylan CA; 5 grandchildren, Clarence D. (Kari) Polland, Taylorville, UT, Charles R. Jurnett, San Diego, CA, LaTausha D. Norrington, Atlanta, GA, Brandon J. (Jessica) DeJurnett, San Diego, CA and LaVausha S. DeJurnett, Atlanta, GA; 1 nephew, James Simpkins, Waveland, MS; 4 nieces, Stella (Robert) Williams, Houston, TX, Malisher Thomas, Bay St. Louis, MS, Denen Simpkins, Minnesota, and Estella Meeche Cousian, Los Angeles, CA; 11 great grandchildren, DeJurnett, Khammal, Khamren, D’Allen, De’Marya, Tayler, Rillee, Charles, Braylon, Kennedy, Kierra, and Kingston;  6 great friends, Ruth Dees, Argentina Davis-Lando, both of Picayune, Tatum Carter, Seth (Dusty) DeJurnett, Clarita Polland and Poinsettia (Tracey) Mark, all of Los Angeles, CA.
