To share happiness, inspiration and wellness to people across the world, Amy Newmark and Chicken Soup for the Soul created the book, “The Joy of Christmas.”
Out of thousands of entries, Picayune City Manager Jim Luke’s story, “On the Wings of Faith,” was selected as one of the 101 entries for publication. He also will be hosting book signings during the next couple of weeks.
“The Joy of Christmas” is filled with intriguing stories, displaying inspiration, love and wonder.
The book is separated into nine categories: the true spirit of Christmas, the perfect gift, holiday miracles, family fun, holiday memories, through the eyes of a child, holiday decorating, taking care of each other and holiday traditions.
Luke’s story is part of the holiday miracles section.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to be selected for Chicken Soup for the Soul,” Luke said.
Throughout the book, there are stories “about communities coming together to make Christmas special for families going through a hard time, the kindness of strangers and some pay-it-forward stories that will make you tear up. You’ll be awed by stories of unexplainable Christmas miracles and you’ll laugh too when you read about holiday hijinks and the funny things that kids say,” according to Chicken Soup for the Soul’s press release.
Luke will hold a book signing on Oct. 20 at Melinda’s Fine Gifts from 5 to 8 p.m. During the event, refreshments will be served and there will be an opportunity to buy “The Joy of Christmas” signed by Luke for $14.95.
To purchase a book, call Melinda’s Fine Gifts at 601-798-7410 and pre-order because the supplies are limited. Melinda’s is located at 1 Sycamore Rd. Suite B in Picayune next to Paul’s Pastry.
The next book signing will be held at Books-a-Million in Hattiesburg off Highway 98 on Nov. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m.
After that, Luke has two more book signing events scheduled; one at Barnes & Noble in Gulfport on Nov. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. and another at Barnes & Noble in Ridgeland on Nov. 19 from 2 to 4 p.m.
“I just want to thank everyone for allowing me to share happiness, inspiration and wellness through my pastime of writing,” Luke said.
