Funeral services for William B. “Buntsy” Sheffield, Jr., 89, of Picayune, MS, who passed away Monday, September 5, 2016, will be held Friday, September 9, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Picayune.
Visitation will be Friday, September 9, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Picayune.
Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Dr. Keith Warden will officiate the service.
A native of Pearl River County, MS, Buntsy served in WWII, the Korean Conflict, National Guard as company commander of the 890th engineers in Picayune. He served on the Picayune School Board as chairman. Buntsy was the Public Works Director for the City of Picayune. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Picayune, and the Rube Watts Sunday School class. Buntsy was a member of the Masons, the American Legion, and the VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Bryan Sheffield, Sr. and Hazel Goetzman Sheffield; his wife of 56 years, Betty Belle Bunker Sheffield; his daughter-in-law, Anita Sheffield; and his granddaughters, Betsy Sheffield, Karen Sheffield, and Carrie Smith; and his sister, Margie Sheffield Walker.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Billy (Linda) Sheffield, Ann (John) Marquez, and Bruce (Suzanne) Sheffield; his 4 grandchildren, Laura Anne (Ernie) Landrum, Josh Smith, Jennifer (Larry) Gutierrez, and Alex Sheffield; his 6 great grandchildren, Elizabeth Griffin, Kacey, Ashley, and Brina Gutierrez, and Sam and Sydney Landrum; his brothers, Tonnie (Florence) Sheffield and Jerry (Anne) Sheffield; and many nieces and nephews.
