Vear Evelyn Geraldson Mitchell, 81, of Magnolia, MS, died  on September 1, 2016 at her daughter and son-in-laws home.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at New Bethel Baptist Church in Poplarville, MS from11:00 a.m.until service at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Larry Geraldson did officiate. Burial will be in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Poplarville, MS. Jones Family Funeral Service in McComb, MS are handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Mitchell was born on April 4, 1935 in Picayune, MS. She was the daughter of William “Bill” Z. Phillips and Celia Ann Polk Phillips.

She was a registered nurse and worked for numerous hospitals in the Bogalusa/Poplarville area for many years. She was an ICU Specialist Nurse for Slidell Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Assistant Director of Nursing. She graduated with special honors at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville.

Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents; her 1st husband, Wayne E. Geraldson; her 2nd husband, George E. Mitchell; one son, Roger Geraldson; four sisters, Mary Magdalena Baucum, Willie Margaret Magnum, Lucille Spence and Virgie Mae Kirk; one brother, John Henry Phillips.

Survivors include her three sons, Sam Geraldson of Kiln, MS, Larry Geraldson and wife Cherita of Laurel, MS and Gerald W. Geraldson of Laurel, MS; one daughter, Becky Holmes and husband Raymond of Magnolia, MS; 10 grandchildren, Sabrina Dawn Geraldson, Adam Geraldson, Scottie E. Mitchell, Gregory Wayne and Mendy Mitchell, Cynthia Lynn Mitchell, Daniel Geraldson and wife Nikki, Crystal Geraldson, Caleb Geraldson, Janna Marie Geraldson and Chuck Holmes; eight great grandchildren, Javiana Geraldson, Ashley Geraldson, Lydia Geraldson, Tabitha Geraldson, Naomi Ruth Geraldson, Wil Rouse, Gabe Rouse and Kayden Mitchell and a host of special nieces and special nephews.

Pallbearers will be Durwood Baucum, Greg Mitchell, Daniel Geraldson, Bobby Kirk, Kenton Spence, Steve Spence, Ray Spence and Joe Spence.
