Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Weems Chapel United Methodist Church for Mrs. Marie Burnett, age 98, or Henleyfield, Miss., who died Monday, September 5, 2016 in Highland Community Hospital.

The Rev. Robert Pittman will officiate at the service.

Burial will be in the Henleyfield Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.

A native of Chance, Ala., Marie was a member of Weems Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jurell Burnett; parents, Bryant McCoy and Idell McCoy-Williams; 6 sisters, Margie, Bernice, Ruby, Bessie, Jane, and Carolyn; and 4 grandsons.

Survivors include 5 sons, James Calvin “J.C.” Burnett of Henleyfield, Miss., Nathaniel Burnett of Picayune, Miss., Paul Melvin Burnett of Birmingham, Ala., Jewel Howard Burnett of Montgomery, Ala., Charles Burnett of Henleyfield, Miss.; 3 daughters, Earnestine Burnett of Picayune, Miss., Essie Mae McLaughlin of Roswell, Ga.; 1 sister, Dorothy Marie Posley of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Weems Chapel United Methodist Church.
