Many businesses and government offices will be closed on Monday for Labor Day.
Pearl River County Administrator Adrain Lumpkin said all county offices will be closed on Sept. 5. Picayune City Manager Jim Luke also said that all the city offices will be closed Monday and reopen on Tuesday.
Poplarville city offices will also be closed during the holiday, Poplarville City Clerk Jane O’Neal said.
“Although the offices will be closed, the emergency lines, like the police and fire departments, will remain open throughout Labor Day,” Luke said. “We hope that everyone has a safe and fun holiday.”
Garbage pick-up in Picayune will occur during the holiday.
Because Labor Day is commonly celebrated with grilling, last minute grocery shopping opportunities will be available. Claiborne Hill in Picayune will be open during their regular hours of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Walmart will also remain open. Winn-Dixie in Picayune will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., but the pharmacy will close at 3 p.m. on Monday.
Customers of Picayune Drug Co., City Rexall Drugs, Fred’s Westside Pharmacy, CVS and Walgreens should attempt to fill prescriptions prior to Labor Day because these pharmacies will be closed. CVS will be open for their normal hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Walgreens will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Rite Aid, including the pharmacy, will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the pharmacy closing at 6 p.m. on Monday.
In Poplarville, Boone’s Pharmacy and Pearl River Drug Co. will be closed during Labor Day. However, Fred’s Pharmacy will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Also, Crosby Memorial Library and Poplarville Public Library will be closed on Labor Day, but will resume their regular hours on Tuesday.
