Leonia Marie Callender, 88, of Carriere, MS, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016, after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family. Leonia was under the care of the wonderful people at Forrest General Hospice with special thanks to Sara Madaris and Carrie Easley.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Liberty, MS at 4:00 p.m. under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
Local arrangements are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Leonia enjoyed quilting, spending time with her family, and taking care of others.
Bro. Ken Roberts will officiate the service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Thomas Tarver and Mary A. Tarver; her husband, Richard L. Callender; and her siblings, Ruby Wade, Alvin Tarver, Eva McAllister, D.C. Tarver, W.C. Tarver, and George Tarver.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Richard Leon Callender and Jennie Sue Davis; 5 grandchildren, Regina (Mike) Boyet, Trina (Waimon) Hendrix, Charles (Sabrina) Callender, Brandi (Mike) Meissner, and Chris Davis; 18 great grandchildren, Derek (Nicole) Callender, Brittany (Amanda) Shaw, Devan Taylor, Brett Shaw, Michael (Maranda) Matesi, Ryan Callender, Kristin Callender, Devin Meissner, Trey Jones, Kerigan Shaw, Aimee Jones, Hailey Callender, Nicholas Mack, Kelsie Callender, Amy Kincaid, Jordan Hendrix, Grace Hendrix, and Naomi Davis; 10 great great grandchildren, Rylee, Rayleigh, Zoe, Ava, Macie, Jacob, Isaiah, Braylee, Tristan, and Asher; her sisters, Faye Necaise and Lillie Herrington, and numerous nieces and nephews.
