Today’s lifestyles feature explores the amazing and unexpected journey of adoption.
The Rester family shared their story of how fortunate they were to bring home a baby girl three years ago.
For many families, adoption is the only option for raising a child.
For many more children, adoption is the best option for having a loving home.
The decision for a family to adopt and raise a child as their own can change a family’s life.
After facing obstacles to having children themselves, the Rester family decided to adopt, rather than become foster parents.
The Department of Human Resources offers classes for those that wish to be licensed to foster or to adopt.
It’s a big decision, but ultimately the Resters decided they were ready for adoption.
A stroke of luck brought them a baby girl just three weeks after receiving news a mother was looking for a family to adopt her baby.
For both parents, it is not easy to make such a difficult decision, but oftentimes it is in the child’s best interest.
A unique turn of events presented the Rester family with a second child just one year ago; when they became biological parents.
According to their parents, the girls are both extremely loving and affectionate, and a great blessing to their family.
Not only were the Resters blessed when they adopted their first child, but as the family has continued to grow they have become even more fortunate.
The Resters encourage other couples in the community to consider adoption as a way of starting or expanding their families.
