A Deer Park man was arrested Saturday in Hancock County for allegedly stabbing his mother repeatedly in the chest.
Carter Anderson, 34, was charged with domestic violence simple assault after Hancock County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call from 25031 Karly Dr. at 7:57 a.m. on Saturday, Hancock County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Don Bass said.
Deputies arrived to find the victim, Lori Penton, suffering from numerous stab wounds to the chest. The suspect, later identified as Anderson, was still at the scene, Bass said.
The incident occurred after a domestic dispute between Anderson and Penton, Bass said.
Penton was transported to the University of South Alabama Hospital in Mobile where she underwent multiple surgeries.
Anderson is being held in the Hancock County Jail under a $25,000 bond, jail records state.
According to Hancock County Jail records, he is set to appear in court on September 6.
Bass did not state a motive because the investigation is still ongoing.
