Local author Gina Burgess published her fourth book entitled, “When Christians Hurt Christians” last month and it has already hit international shelves.
“It took me about 20 years to write it because I had to get over the anger and everything that I’ve experienced,” said Burgess.
Her book is a self-help guide to overcoming pain.
“This was a journey that God dragged me through to learn how to forgive,” said Burgess.
Her book offers steps for recovery and Bible verses to guide readers through the pain.
“A lot of them are probably suffering quietly,” said Burgess.
“There was only one perfect person and that was Jesus Christ. You can’t hold other people up to that standard,” Burgess said.
The book also offers some advice about how to deal with bullying in the workplace.
“There are many things to look for to keep from being bullied at work,” said Burgess. “You trust your boss, you trust the people that you work with because of their position, and once Satan realized that a bully can get to you and make you leave your job, he’s going to keep doing that.”
She also said that though the book is specifically written for Christians, anyone can benefit from it.
Burgess has published three other books: “Weep Not for the Dead,” a science fiction novel; “Refreshment in Refuge,” a collection of blog posts; and “The Crowns of the Believers,” a study of the New Testament. She is also planning to write another science fiction novel, said Burgess.
She works from her home in Picayune, writing, illustrating children’s books and designing logos.
