Picayune Main Street is hosting its third annual Christmas in July event this week.
From July 13-15 local businesses will provide discounts, raffles and free giveaways, said Picayune Main Street Director Reba Beebe.
On Wednesday, vendors gave out 45 tickets to children aged 2 to 10-years-old for Thursday’s pizza party at SouthernChar Steakhouse.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at SouthernChar Steakhouse from 5-7 p.m. Thursday along with carolers and Christmas storytellers, said Beebe.
The pizza party is sponsored by Bubbles & Bliss, Moore Chiropractic Clinic, All American Check Cashing and Southern Char Steakhouse.
On Friday, participating businesses will be giving out double coupons to register for a Martha Stewart Christmas Collection dish set. The winner will be announced at 4 p.m. Friday, said Beebe.
The event began in Picayune “to draw some attention to downtown, and offer specials to the community,” said Beebe.
The 15 participating merchants in this year’s event include: Angel’s Place, April’s Picayune, Bags & Bows, Bonnie Blue, Bre’s Clothing, Bubbles & Bliss, Dancewear Connection, Diva Dayzle, Faith’s Salon, Gibson’s Antiques, Glass Porch, Johnson’s Station, Repeat After Me, Shay’s Thrift Store and Southern Boy Furniture.
