Funeral service for retired SFC James E. Bradford, 82, will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sweet Beulah Baptist Church, Lumberton, MS. James was born November 23, 1933 to the late Mr. Shedrick Bradford, Sr. and Mrs. Eva Mae Bradford Speights. He transitioned to his heavenly home on June 13, 2016 embraced by his loving family and friends at his home.
He was a graduate of Lamar County Training School and was a member of Sweet Beulah Baptist Church. After high school he joined the United States Army where he proudly served for 23 years including two
tours in Vietnam. Among his many accomplishments in service to our country, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart, numerous medals, badges, and campaign ribbons awards. He worked as a cook in Saudia Arabia and security guard at the Smithsonian Institute. He also worked as an offshore cook where he later retired.
James leaves to cherish his loving memories, his loving and devoted wife, Barbria Bradford; his children, Geraldine Edwards, James Rayford, Eva M. Bradford, Devon Bradford, Nikcola Henderson, Terrell Hall, Anthony McWilliams, Geon Henderson, Shemika Hall and Jason Mayes; his siblings, Bertha Henderson, Merle (Charles) Bolden, Ollistene Loftin and Apostle Cecil (Mary) Bradford; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, God-children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.
Interment will be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
