For the second year in a row, the Mississippi Cameo Club is holding the New York to Nashville fundraiser for the Ms. Mississippi Senior America Pageant. The fundraiser will be held June 26 at 2 p.m. in the Pittman Family Life Center. It is a $10 donation to participate.

Bonnie Hughes, director of the Ms. Mississippi Senior America Pageant, described the fundraiser as a “great afternoon full of entertainment with local performers who are great at what they do.”

Some of the local groups performing at the New York to Nashville variety show will be Pineywoods Cloggers, X-finity Dance School, Sunni’s Elite Dance Academy and It’s All Relative Trio along with other individual local performers.

Hughes said the money raised during the event will help fund the winner of the Ms. Mississippi Senior Pageant to travel to the National Ms. Senior America Pageant, which is on July 30 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The competition is for women at least 60-years-old and will involve three events; a philosophy of life, talent show, and interview session by a panel of judges.

“We would love to have more ladies apply to be in the contest to celebrate the ‘Age of Elegance.’ They really show the nation that ladies over 60 are beautiful and have lots of talents. The pageant gives those that love to perform a chance to do it and it is a lot of fun watching all these beautiful queens,” said Hughes.
