Change is in the air

The excitement of change brings lots of anticipation around the sports world in Pearl River County, one of those changes entails new coaches in the area.

When talking about change, there is always an unknown factor. However, it is stimulating for the fans, parents and players of the high school teams. Some may negatively view the change, but coaches are typically hired because they’ve proven successful, which gives them a high ceiling of opportunity.

All coaches are different and have unique philosophies when approaching their sport. For example, a new football coach with a defensive background might change the whole script when replacing an offensive minded coach. These changes do not necessarily mean trouble, but instead means that the fans and parents are going to be watching a new style of whatever sport they’re spectating.

To me, the aspect of change is exhilarating. As an athlete, you get to experience a new style of playing and see your favorite sport from a different angle. High school kids are young and willing to learn new things so experiencing a change in coaching style can be a great opportunity for these kids to open new doors in the sports world and explore new ways of playing, if not finding a new position they are better at.

With new coaches comes a breath of fresh air; a time of renewal for some teams and for others an element of surprise. Versatility and flexibility are two of the most important aspects you could have in sports, whether as a coach or an athlete, and with that comes a great upside and lots of anticipation for the season to begin.
