Picayune man charged with child pornography

A Picayune man was arrested Wednesday for the charges of production and possession of child pornography and sexual battery of a child.
According to a press release from the Mississippi Attorney General’s office, 39-year-old David Owens of Picayune was arrested Wednesday evening at his home by Attorney General Cyber Crime Unit investigators, with help from the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department and the Picayune Police Department.
The investigation found that Owens allegedly was in possession of videos and photos depicting child exploitation in a sexual manner. The release states that he was also producing child exploitation material and sexually abusing a 7-year-old child.
He has since been booked into the Pearl River County Jail, the release states.
If convicted, Owens faces up to 40 years per count for the production and possession of the material, and up to 30 years for the charge of sexual battery of a child.
