Trump, Clinton take Pearl River County in respective parties

Democratic candidate Hilary Clinton and Republican candidate Donald Trump won big in Pearl River County during Tuesday’s presidential primary election.
In the county, there are 32 precincts and 32,419 registered voters and the number of cards cast Tuesday was 10,484, which is about 32 percent of registered voters.
Five candidates were listed on the ballot for the Democratic primary including Hillary Clinton, Rocky De La Fuente, Martin O’Malley, Bernie Sanders and Willie Wilson.
In Pearl River County, Clinton received 974 votes, De La Fuente received four votes, O’Malley received four votes, Sanders received 352 votes and Wilson received 12 votes.
Thirteen candidates were listed on the ballot for the Republican primary including Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, Lindsey Graham, Mike Huckabee, John Kasich, George Pataki, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Rick Santorum and Donald Trump.
In Pearl River County, Bush received 35 votes, Carson received 120 votes, Christie received nine votes, Cruz received 3,483 votes, Fiorina received six votes, Graham received one vote, Huckabee received 22 votes, Kasich received 476 votes, Pataki received one vote, Paul received 15 votes, Rubio received 343 votes, Santorum received five votes and Trump received 4,562 votes.
