Services for Sister Sarah Ann Mills Poole, 85, of Poplarville, MS will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Hart’s Chapel Baptist Church where Rev. George Tillman is Pastor. Reverend Dr. Jimmy Richardson is officiating at the service.
Sarah Ann Mills Poole was born on March 5, 1931 in Monroeville, AL to the late Willie and Jamie Mills.
Sister Poole was a member of Green Grove Baptist Church in Poplarville, MS where she served as a missionary and a member of the usher board. She was previously employed at the Pearl River County Nursing Home and the Movie Star Factory of Poplarville, MS.
On March 29, 1947 Sister Sarah Ann Mills Poole united in holy matrimony to the late Roosevelt Poole, Sr. This union was blessed with nine beautiful children. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, crocheting, shopping, and singing. She loved wearing hats; she had a hat to match every suit. She had a unconditional love for her church, God, and making others smile. One of her favorite sayings was, “I love you,” because it came from her heart.
Sister Sarah Ann Mills Poole transitioned to her heavenly home on March 22, 2016 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roosevelt Poole, Sr.; one son, Arthur James Poole, Sr.; one daughter-in-law, Savannah Poole; two sons-in-law, Frank Henry, Sr. and Moses Hogan; one grandson-in-law, Lerando Brown; four brothers, Eugene, George, Grover, and Wilson “Bunch” Mills; five sisters, Mattie Graham, Lee Jane Raine, Ethal Kirsh, Earnestine Fike, and Collar Mae Hixon.
She leaves to cherish her life, eight loving children: Roger Lee (Nadine) Poole, Shirline (Johnny Lee)
Magee, Roosevelt Poole, Jr., Marcia Regina (Johnny) Ramsey, Janie (Rev. Jimmy) Richardson, and Rodney (April) Poole, all of Poplarville, MS, Billy Ray (Annie) Poole, of Mobile, AL, and Tonja Hogan (Felton) Morris, of Pascagoula, MS; one great grandchild, whom she reared for 14 years, Tiquanda Hyde; thirty-six grandchildren, eighty-seven great-grandchildren, and twenty- eight great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Lee (Jimmy) Magee and Maybell Mills, of Poplarville, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Church. Interment will be in Rose Park Cemetery. Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
