On March 11 and 12, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council 6872 will host their third annual Marketplace.
Ladies Auxiliary President Lynne Barze´ said the idea of a marketplace was thought up by committee chair Marion Hebbler.
“I thought it was great,” Barze´ said. “It’s a great way to raise money for our charities.”
The Ladies Auxiliary is part of the Knights of Columbus and supports the Knights in their charitable endeavors, she said.
Both groups donate to the Senior Center of South Pearl River County, Sav-A-Life, local schools, the Pearl River County SPCA and any local charity they feel is worthy, Barze´ said.
“We also assist the Knights with building projects,” she said. “The Ladies Auxiliary is also selling crosses to benefit Christian people in the Holy Land. All funds raised are donated to charitable organizations.”
During the event, there will be booths filled with crafts, collectibles and art, Barze´ said.
Hebbler said booths will be filled with handmade goods, purses, clothing, jellies, outdoor wooden furniture, serveral types of jewelry and Italian cookies.
Local authors will also be in attendance, Barze´ said.
There will be more food available for purchase this year, she said. The menu includes seafood gumbo, chicken and sausage jambalaya, seafood macaroni salad, bread pudding, chicken or tuna salad on croissant and fresh baked goods. All food will be available for dine-in or take-out, Hebbler said.
There will be hourly door prizes and a parade of prizes, she said. During the parade, attendees can purchase a ticket to place in the cup in front of the item they’re interested in.
“The event is open the public and there is no charge to attend,” Hebbler said. “Come one, come all, the more the merrier.”
The marketplace will open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. both days. The Knights of Columbus is located at 408 Carroll Street, Picayune.
