Take advantage of hospital’s support group

Beginning today, the Pearl River County Hospital and Nursing Home will host its first meeting of the Caregivers Support Group.
This a great idea and one we feel will provide necessary support to those taking care of loved ones who are unable to care for themselves.
While providing support for their family members, caregivers often forget to take care of their own needs.
This is selflessness at its best, but they need to remember, tending to their own physical and emotional needs is just as important.
Confiding in friends and other family members is a wonderful outlet, but sharing experiences with others who are also caregivers can provide support like no other.
They understand the day-to-day struggles and triumphs that occur when providing round the clock care for an incapacitated loved one.
We applaud the efforts of the Pearl River County Hospital and Nursing Home for creating this program. The program will also be proctored by two social workers, who will help members identify and solve problems.
If you are a caregiver, we commend you for taking care of your loved ones in their time of need.
We realize it’s not an easy task, but must be a rewarding one. We encourage you to attend these support meetings and remember to take care of yourself as well.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the dining room at the Pearl River County Hospital and Nursing Home and is open to caregivers throughout the county.
Subsequent meetings will be held the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the same location.
We hope this is the beginning of a successful venture, one that will benefit the selfless caregivers in this county.
