The family of Dee Ann Davidson Andrews, 70, of Picayune, Miss., will gather to receive friends and family on Saturday, February 20, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Abell Funeral Home, Abernathy, Texas. Private family services will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, Texas.
Mrs. Andrews died Wednesday, February 17, 2016, in Lubbock, Texas.
Dee was born on March 2, 1945 to Eugene Neil and Alma Jean (Jackson) Davidson in Chicago, Ill.. After living in Chicago and St. Louis, Mo., the family moved to Abernathy, Texas, where Dee graduated as valedictorian from Abernathy High School in 1963. She was a former Community Editor for the Picayune Item and the wife of the retired Publisher, Tom Andrews. They were married on March 2, 1991 in Slidell, La.
After raising her children, she then went back to college graduating from University of Southern Mississippi and Loyola School of Law in New Orleans, La. Dee and Tom lived in Slidell, La. until 2006 when they moved to Picayune, Miss. following Hurricane Katrina. Dee practiced law for 10 years before retiring. She is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Neil Davidson, a brother, Mark Alan Davidson, and a daughter, Kimberly Oldham.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Andrews of Picayune, Miss., mother, Alma Jean Davidson of Lubbock, Texas, 2 daughters, Rebecca Ann Hope of McKinney, Texas and Kristine Nguyen and husband, Tuan, of Fort Worth, Texas, son, Mark Austin O’Neil of Picayune, Miss., 13 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, sister, Laura Holland and husband, Dr. Gary Holland, of Abilene, Texas, brother, Neil Davidson and wife, Roseanna, of Flanagan, Ill., and cousins Lee & Fran Jackson and Tere Violet all of Abernathy, Texas.
The family suggest memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, Va. 22312.
