Narcotics detectives with the Picayune Police Department arrested five more suspects on drug-related charges as part of the department’s ongoing investigation dubbed Operation: Who’s Next?

When officers approached Magee, he immediately ran inside the home and was found hiding inside one of the bedrooms. When they searched Magee’s person, officers found a metal container in his pocket containing 11 pills identified as Valium and one blue bill identified as oxycodone, including a multi-colored pipe. Magee was additionally charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia, Magri said.

Narcotics detectives also arrested 37-year-old Robert Ford III of 608 Stovall Ave. who turned himself in to police on Jan. 12 at 11:54 a.m. for an outstanding warrant he held with the agency for the sale of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school or church, Magri said.

In another case, an officer came across a suspect wanted by the department on drug-related charges during a traffic stop on Jan. 12 at 10:06 p.m. The officer stopped a Chevrolet pickup truck after he saw the vehicle run a stop sign at the intersection of South Haugh Avenue and Memorial Boulevard and proceed to drive in the middle of the roadway with no working taillights, Magri said.

The driver of the vehicle identified himself as 48-year-old Danny Kennedy and the passenger was 36-year-old Jennifer Diane Smith of 83 Bass Road in Carriere. However, the officer knew the true identify of Kennedy was 48-year-old Richard Kennedy of 1637 Highway 11 S. He also knew Kennedy was wanted by the department for an outstanding warrant for the sale of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school or church, Magri said.

When officers searched Kennedy’s person, they found a small brown bottle, which contained 35-and-a-half white pills identified as Xanax and one clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, Magri said.

Kennedy’s driver’s license was suspended, he was unable to provide proof of car insurance and the vehicle he was driving had a switched license plate, Magri said.

Kennedy was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving while license suspended, switched tag, no insurance and providing false identifying information to a police officer, Magri said.

When officers conducted a search of Smith’s purse, they found a plastic bag containing a crystallized substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine. They also discovered a syringe, a white straw with a white residue and a metal spoon with a white residue, all items commonly used to introduce narcotics to the body, Magri said.

Smith didn’t have an outstanding warrant, but she was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia, Magri said.
