Ensuring the health of you and your family

Health insurance is a necessity in this day and age.
Imagine if you were involved in a car accident. How would you cover the expenses? Even a minor car accident can lead to major expenses in medical care. What about if you were diagnosed with a major illness? Both of these scenarios are reasons to ensure your family is insured.
In Mississippi it appears that the word is getting around.
Now that the Affordable Health Care Act has been law for almost six years, many people who can afford it have signed up for medical insurance coverage.
According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, almost 100,000 Mississippians have already signed up for health insurance during the current open enrollment, which began on Nov. 1.
This year’s open enrollment lasts until the end of this month, so if you have let the matter slip your mind, you still have time to secure a policy.
If you are a Mississippi resident and don’t already have insurance, securing a policy through Healthcare.gov is advised and easy to do.
Households that can afford coverage but fail to have a policy could face financial penalties of $695, or more in some cases.
For those who may need help paying for health insurance, the website has several resources that allows applicants to seek financial assistance.
Avoiding fees should not be the only reason to secure health insurance. Injury can occur at any time, and typically does so without notice. Medical care is not cheap, so having insurance can provide a level of coverage to help cover the costs of illnesses and injuries.
Besides, there’s nothing more important than your health.
