Democratic party caucuses set for Feb. 13

“If you don’t vote, don’t complain.” Many of us have said that time and again. It applies even more to the leadership of the Democratic Party at every level. Once every four years, every Democrat in Mississippi, whether they consider themselves great or small, has an equal and open opportunity to influence the direction of the Democratic Party. At 10 a.m. on Feb. 13, you have that opportunity at your precinct caucus. It is a simple process involving a few people at your county voting precinct.
Pearl River County has 32 voting precincts, and we have Democratic voters in each precinct. Won’t you to step forward and help us continue the exceptional work of our committee for the next four years? We need someone to be at their precinct for two hours in the morning on Feb.13. Your duty is not difficult. By law, someone must be at each precinct on the morning of Feb. 13 with delegate forms to give any Democrat who shows interest in being part of the Democratic Executive Committee. Each precinct must select and submit delegates to the County Convention on March 12 in Poplarville.
Things cannot change in Pearl River County without your assistance. We have many dedicated Democrats who come to the meetings, work at the functions, and do even more during elections. We are not asking you to become that active. If you do not want to serve on the executive committee, you don’t have to. We just need you to be at your precinct to give delegate forms anyone who would like to serve. Please contact the chair, Agnes Dalton by phone 601-746-6020 or email at rockman1935@aol.com.
Understand that this is the best opportunity you will get, regardless of how important or unimportant you may consider yourself. Ours is a lowercase “d” democratic process. If you care about the Democratic Party, step up and attend.
“If you don’t caucus, don’t complain.”
